LOWELL, Mass. — The UMass Lowell River Hawks officially introduced their new alternate hockey jerseys at a special Uniform Launch party at University Crossing on Tuesday, January 20. They are beautiful.
To start of the 2014-15 hockey season, the River Hawks introduced their new Under Armour jerseys they would wear this season and reception has been nothing but great. Now, UMass Lowell adds to the team’s new repertoire with a great new alternate jersey.
The new jersey is graphite and features a crest on the front of the jersey with the same lettering and numbering on the back as their primary uniforms. The color and front crest have never been used before on a UMass Lowell jersey. This marks only the second time a mascot logo will be featured on the front of the jersey, last coming when the chief head was present on the ULowell uniform.
The River Hawks will wear these new uniforms for the first time on Friday, January 23 as they take on the Providence College Friars at the Tsongas Center. Puck drops at 7:15 p.m. eastern.
In addition to the jersey reveal, UMass Lowell paid homage to the history of the school’s hockey program and all the previous jerseys the team has worn over their tenured history.
Fans in attendance on Tuesday night were the first to be able to purchase the new alternate jersey with the first 200 jerseys sold getting an additional special gift.
Tickets for the January 23 UMass Lowell home game and all remaining home games are available now through the Tsongas Center Box Office, online at TsongasCenter.com or by calling 866-722-8780.
