The Jones family is a competitive family with athletic and championship brothers. Now, two of the brothers want to fight…for charity.
Current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones is being called out by his brother, recent Super Bowl Champion for the New England Patriots, Chandler Jones. NFL star Chandler tells TMZ Sports he is ready to step inside the Octagon and is pretty sure he can beat his UFC Champion brother Jon Jones.
“Me and my brother used to fight all the time when we were young … and I’m pretty sure I can take him down now. I am way bigger than he is,” Chandler tells TMZ Sports.
Jon Jones is coming off another title defense against Daniel Cormier at UFC 182 in January and Chandler Jones just won Super Bowl XLIX with the Patriots in February.
Chandler is dead serious. He would fight his brother for charity.
“It will be fun if we actually did a one-round match for charity … that would be fun. If I win, he would have to donate to the charity of my choice and vice versa.”
As much fun as it sounds and it would likely make a good amount of money for charity, it is unlikely Patriots’ head coach Bill Belichick would let his player do such a thing.
“I don’t know how my coach would feel about it. I don’t think it would fly,” said Chandler.
It is also unlikely UFC President Dana White would enjoy seeing his star fighter step into the Octagon with a 265-pound NFL defensive end, even for charity.
