UMass Lowell River Hawks‘ senior Kevin Veilleux was named America East Pitcher of the Week by the conference on Monday.
Veilleux threw a complete-game shutout in game two of the series for the River Hawks, leading UMass Lowell to a 1-0 victory over University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). He allowed five hits, while striking out two in the win.
The senior leads the team in wins and has a record of 4-3 with an earned run average of 4.10 in his seven appearances this season.
In only their second season as a Division I program, UMass Lowell is 9-20 overall this season and 5-6 in America East play. Although they are not eligible to make the postseason, the River Hawks currently sit in fourth place in the AE standings.
After falling to Brown University on Tuesday nigh at LeLacheur Park in Lowell, Massachusetts, UMass Lowell is back in action on Wednesday for a day game. The River Hawks travel to Storrs, Connecticut for a 3:30 p.m. eastern first pitch against the UConn Huskies.
Next home game for the River Hawks will take place at 7:00 p.m. eastern on Wednesday, April 29 at LeLacheur Park versus Rhode Island.
