Mixed Martial Arts is making a return to Rockingham Park in Salem, New Hampshire on September 18 as Combat Zone MMA gets set for Combat Zone 55. The night will feature amateur kickboxing, amateur MMA and a pro MMA main event.

In the CZ 55 main event, UMass Lowell junior and Lowell, Massachusetts native Connor Barry (0-0) takes on North Andover native Peter San Antonio (1-0). Barry will be making his professional debut after putting together a 5-1 amateur MMA record. San Antonio is currently training in Utica, New York for his second pro fight.

“This is a huge opportunity for me and I am very excited to showcase my skills against a worthy opponent,” said Barry. “I have never headlined a show before, and this past year I’ve been working harder than I ever had in the past.”

Barry’s five amateur wins have come by way of finish, three by submission and two by knockout. He picked up a win in his last bout over C.J. Ewer, via first-round submission, at NEF 17 back in April. The 20-year-old only loss came by way of unanimous decision against Carlos Correia at Warrior Nation XFA 8 in February 2014. He is currently riding a three-fight win streak.

“Bare Knuckle” is currently the No. 18 ranked amateur fighter in the Northeast and No. 6 ranked in New England by Tapology.com.

San Antonio (4-5 as an amateur) dispatched Ricky Sylvester at 2:34 of the second round via submission in Combat Zone 51 in November 2014.

In addition to the main event, the 14-fight “Pride and Glory” card features six amateur kickboxing events and seven amateur MMA bouts. Among the more intriguing of the amateur MMA fights are the match-ups between female fighters Hannah Murello (2-0) and Kerri Kenneson (0-1) and the heavyweight battle at 205 pounds between the undefeated Tim Fields (2-0) and first timer Zeal McGrew.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. eastern and the first fight kicks off at 7:00 p.m. Combat Zone 55 tickets may be purchased via Connor Barry at connor_barry1@student.uml.edu. Parking at the racetrack is free and there is full food and beverage service. The Combat Zone 55 weigh-in is in the Sports Club at the track at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 17 and is free and open to the public.
