The UMass Lowell River Hawks picked up their first recruit for the 2017-18 season on Saturday. Defenseman Cale List has made his commitment to the River Hawks.

List is in his second season with the Pembroke Lumber Kings of the Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL). Last year the defenseman tallied two goals and six assists for eight points over 31 games.

Over the first 14 games this season, the 17-year-old has amassed seven assists for the Lumber Kings, tying him for first among Pembroke defense in point production.

Prior to joining the CCHL, List spent a single season with the Ottawa Valley Titans Mn Mdgt AAA (OEMMHL) and two seasons with Ottawa Valley Titans Bantam AAA (OEBHL).

List is listed as a 6-2, 193-pound defenseman. Scouting reports have List as a big two-way defender who plays a physical game down low and in front of the net. He is more of a defensive defenseman at the moment but has the tools to contribute at both ends of the ice once his game fully develops.

Pembroke is part of the CCHL’s Yzerman Division and plays their home games at Pembroke Memorial Centre in Pembroke, Ontario. The arena seats 2,250 for hockey contests.
