The 2015-16 National Hockey League (NHL), American Hockey League (AHL), ECHL  and hockey leagues are well underway and that means there are former UMass Lowell River Hawks playing hockey.

This year, UMass Lowell has 17 former River Hawks playing professional hockey in North America and 14 playing overseas.

Barry Goers (WBS Penguins, AHL) underwent surgery and will miss most of the season. Christian Folin took a huge hit on December 13 and has not played since.

TOP SKATER(S) OF THE WEEK:

  • Chris Auger tallied four points (1g, 3a) over two games this week for the Brampton Beast (ECHL). Michael Budd had three points (1g, 2a) over two games for ESC Wedemark Scorpions in Germany, while Yorick Treille tallied three points (2g, 1a) over two games for the Rouen Dragons in France.

TOP GOALIE OF THE WEEK:

  • Connor Hellebuyck posted a 1-1-0 record over the last week. He allowed three goals on 44 shots including a shutout win on Sunday for the Winnipeg Jets in two games.

RECENT TRANSACTIONS:

  • Scott Wilson was re-assigned to the WBS Penguins (AHL) by the Pittsburgh Penguins (NHL).
  • Michael Colantone opted to leave UMass Lowell early and signed contract with the Indy Fuel (ECHL).
