The UMass Lowell River Hawks roster for the 2016-17 season just got a little bigger. Forward Kenneth Hausinger has committed to join the team for next season.
Hausinger currently skates for the Des Moines Buccaneers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) where he has tallied 43 points (15g, 28a) to go along with 14 penalty minutes and a minus-14 over 47 games this season.
The 20-year-old leads all Buccaneers in points (43), assists (28) and power play goals (5). He sits 10th in points in the USHL and is tied for forth in assists this season.
Hausinger splits last season between the North American Hockey League‘s (NAHL) Odessa Jackalopes, Connor Hellebuyck‘s former team, and the Madison Capitols of the USHL. While with Odessa, the 5-foot-8, 185-pound forward tallied 68 points (25g, 43a) over 57 games.
The Anchorage, Alaska native will add a great deal of scoring to the UMass Lowell roster in 2016-17 after they see the departure of A.J. White, Ryan McGrath, Adam Chapie, Robert Francis, and Michael Fallon.
Hausinger is one of seven recruits expected to join the River Hawks in 2016 and the fifth forward. Although it has been months since any news broke on the UMass Lowell recruiting trail, Hausinger’s commitment is very good news.
Kenny’s brother Christian Hausinger is expected to skate for Atlantic Hockey‘s Sacred Heart University next season.
