Zach Johnson started the final day of the 2014 U.S. Open without a real chance of fighting for a win, but made the highlight real anyway.
Johnson, sitting at +9, lined up at the 9th hole well off the leaderboard. However, when he walked off the tee no one cared he was out of contention, because he sunk a hole-in-one.
After the ball hit the green and rolled about 15 feet and dropped in the hole, Johnson dropped his wedge and put his arms up in excitement. On his way to pickup his ball from the hole, he ran down the ropes giving the fans who witnessed his amazing shot high fives.
Johnson won’t be happy with his overall game at Pinehurst No. 2, but will remember hole nine on Sunday.
