UFC President Dana White and women’s MMA fans around the world finally got their wish, undefeated women’s star Holly Holm has signed an exclusive multi-fight contract with the world’s leading MMA promotion.
Holm joins the UFC with an undefeated professional MMA record of 7-0 and trains alongside light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and other well known UFC fighters at Jackson’s MMA in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
After spending most of her fighting career in the world of boxing and made light work of most of her competition, 33-2-3 overall, she made the move to MMA full time in 2013. As a professional boxer, she held titles for the WBF, WBAN, WBC, GBU, WIBA, IFBA, WBA and IBA.
Holm enters the UFC as one of the top-contenders for Ronda Rousey‘s belt at 135-pounds. Her striking background and experience in professional fighting may give the current women’s bantamweight champion her toughest competition yet. However, both fighters are mending injuries suffered during their last fights. Rousey had 10 stitches put in her hand following her 16-second defeat of Alexis Davis at UFC 175 and Holm suffered a broken arm in her last fight against Juliana Werner at LFC 30 in April.
The newest women’s bantamweight fighter is set to make her UFC debut later on this year and will be a force to reckon with. Keep an eye out for her first official scheduled bout now that she is officially signed to the UFC.
The UFC is next in action on Wednesday, July 16 for UFC Fight Night 45: Cerrone vs. Miller on FOX Sports 1.
